Văn Miếu nằm ở trung tâm Hà Nội, cách Hồ Hoàn Kiếm khoảng 2 km về phía Tây. Nó được bao quanh bời 4 con phố nhộn nhịp: Quốc Tử Giám, Văn Miếu, Tôn Đức Thẳng, và Nguyễn Thái Học. Rất nhiều cổ vật quý báu được trưng bày ở đó. Nhiều cây và hoa được những người làm vườn chăm sóc cẩn thận ở di tích này. Văn Miếu được xem là một trong những địa danh lịch sử – văn hóa quan trọng nhất Việt Nam.

Quốc Tử Giám – trường đại học đầu tiên ở Việt Nam – được xây dựng vào năm 1076 dưới thòi vua Lý Nhân Tông. Nó được dùng để giáo dục thế hệ trẻ cho đất nước.

Nó bao gồm nhiều phòng học và thư viện cho học sinh. Các giáo viên của Quốc Tử Giám đều là những học giả rất nổi tiếng. 

Các học sinh của Quốc Tử Giám đều là người rất xuất sắc. Họ được tuyển chọn từ các kỳ thi tại địa phương trên khắp cả nước.

Họ phải học nhiều môn học trong vòng 3 năm. Sau đó họ được chuẩn bị kĩ lưỡng cho kì thi đầu tiên là thi Quốc gia, sau đó là kì thi Hoàng gia trước khi nhận học vị tiến sĩ.
